When ordering a custom frame I need to know the exact measurements of the piece of art that you need framed. There is no charge for me to put the piece into the frame myself because it is to my advantage to have the artwork in my possession before I make the frame for it. If the piece is a watercolor I will have a mat cut and put a plastic sheet to simulate the look of glass. This is not particularly archival but framing with real glass or plexi is difficult in the miniature dollhouse world. Also please state the color of frame you want. If you have a favorite hardwood I can order the moulding in that wood. If you have a sample of the type of frame you want in miniature send me a photo. I will do my best to come close to it but there are no guarantees. For the simpler frames the wood is important. For the frames with the added detail it is less so. I add the detail on top of the wood with modeling paste and apply it with a syringe and a toothpick. The paste is sometimes not the exact color of the wood so it looks better when it is gold or silver leafed. If you are framing art to enter into a fine art miniature show, I need to know the specifications for that show. Most shows require screw eyes and wire on the back. I usually don't put those on if the piece is meant for a dollhouse or an easel. There is a $5.00 charge for this. I do not sell the frames wholesale because framing is not my business, painting is, and I only do this as a service to miniaturist because there are so few miniature framers out there. Keep in mind that these frames are scaled to fit into a dollhouse and will not hang on a "real" wall. I am happy to give out all my secrets on how to make a miniature frame and where to get the moldings because I would rather be painting than making frames! Allow a three to four weeks for delivery.
