The Fascinating Female Form
Life Drawings by Barbara Stanton
at the 1st Street Wine Company
A wonderful local wine bar, The First Street Wine Co., is showcasing Barbara Stanton’s life drawings from mid-August to mid-November, 2026. The show is called “The Fascinating Female Form” and features Ms. Stanton’s latest digital drawings as well as a few pastel, watercolor, and oil paintings, drawn and painted from life over the years at the Bothwell Figure Drawing Workshop, which meets every Friday morning. Each piece captures the elegance and beauty of the female form, celebrating the light and shadow and every line and curve. The warm glow of the bar lights seems to dance across the ladies, creating an atmosphere where art and wine come together naturally. As you sip a glass of your favorite vintage and listen to the soft music and gentle chatter, I hope you feel the same sense of wonder I did the first time I saw this work come alive in this space.

A solo exhibition featuring a diverse collection of artwork by local artist Barbara Stanton, on view November 17–29, 2026.
True to its title, the exhibition offers something for everyone, bringing together a variety of artistic subjects and styles. Visitors will discover miniature paintings, figurative works, landscapes, and a whimsical collection of silly, hand-painted brushes that showcase the artist’s playful sense of humor and creativity.
From small, carefully observed miniature paintings to expressive figurative pieces and landscapes, the exhibition celebrates the many ways an artist can explore the world through paint. The collection reflects a spirit of curiosity, experimentation, and the simple joy of making art.
The public is invited to attend an opening reception on Saturday, November 21, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Visitors will also have the opportunity to watch the artist demonstrate the art of miniature painting on November 18, 28, and 29, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
